While it is most commonly seen in teenagers, children as young as eight and adults as old as fifty can be seen with cystic acne. It is also common for cystic acne to appear on women while they are pregnant.
Getting acne flare ups around your period is very normal for girls. I personally haven’t tried the baking soda, but to my knowledge just because the acne comes around with your cycle doesn’t mean it’s different from any other time. So baking soda should work then too.

[…] of my acne. I really began trying everything to try to combat it and surprisingly found that natural methods worked better than chemical over the counter medications and even pharmaceutical medications. […]
All that expensive crap skin ID proactive all of it nothing works i have tried it all. Try this: butter, salt, aloe vera, toothpaste, and lime….. sounds crazy but it works when you take all that and mix it and out it in the microwave for 30 seconds then put it on with a make up brush or paint brush ( soft ) or a toothbrush (dont press hard) :-D:-D:-DB-):-
Valery Stein, an esthetician at Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa in New York City, says she can’t prescribe medication for cystic acne. For that reason, it’s important to see your dermatologist, if possible, in addition to booking a spa day. But what estheticians can do is offer supplementary treatments in addition to your medication, including deep-cleansing facials, extractions on existing acne, and glycolic peels. “I especially like the combination of an anti-acne facial and/or medical facial that includes a glycolic peel,” she says. “I’ve seen this produce visible results many times.”
You can try any one of the remedies mentioned below for treating cystic acne. Apart from that you have to eat nutritional diet, follow good skin care regimen and few prevention tips for effective results.
I have acne but its not THAT bad. its mainly my forehead and sometimes my chin. I have scaring from my previouse pimples on my forehead and on my chin. I use proactive which has made a difference but not too much of a difference. I NEED to get rid of it because its annoying and ugly and it really brings down your self confidence. I just want to hide my face from the world. If anybody has a TERRIFIC treatment I need it NOW!>-(
something that really works is Pronexin but idk where to buy it except online and i guess this is a thingy bout natural home treatments but it is all natural and has a bunch of good stuff in it. no harsh chemicals. btw tooth paste kinda works, too. also try putting ice on any pimples for ten min and then wash ur face. helps a little. 😉
Due to a recent pregnancy, I have been battling adult acne. I have tried a few different washes and treatments and some of the just did not work at all. Some made my skin break out more and some just dried my skin out completely. After I tried DermalMD Acne Serum my skin felt much smoother while also feeling tighter. After a few days of use I also noticed some of my acne going away. So far I am very pleased with this product and will continue to use it.
I tried the 2nd one/honey cinnamon acne remedy. I used it as a mask on my whole face and it was amazing!!! I wouldn’t use this if you have oily skin, however, because this makes your skin very moisturized. I recommend this remedy for dry skin and mild acne. If that’s you go ahead and use this it was awesome and made my skin soft as well as glowing!
I’ve been reading a lot of posts, and I am amazed at how many people suffer from acne! I didn’t start getting acne untill I was about 18, I am now 22 and it doesn’t seem to be going ANYWHERE! Not only that, but it turned to cystic acne. So frustrating and discouraging. I tried ProActive, but it stopped working about a year into the treatment.
Acne can be caused by hormonal changes and imbalances, bacteria, fungus, toxin build up, and other health problems. Figuring out the root of the acne problem can help to find the appropriate remedy. Acne is not generally caused by a lack of cleanliness. In fact, many acne sufferers tend to overclean their faces!
Everyone has heard the old saying – ‘you are what you eat’. We will take that even a step further to include ‘you are how you live’. This holds especially true if you suffer from acne. -Green tea is great to drink, but it’s also great applied to the skin. It helps to mop up oil and bacteria, as well as being chock full of antioxidants that can help heal and nourish your skin. I’ve found that applying green tea frequently can help soothe and diminish my break outs.
WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THE CHEAPEST THING IN THE WORLD DOES THE GREATEST THING EXPENSIVE STUFF WON’T DO!! THANK U THANK U THANK U!!!! FROM NOW ONWARDS IM STOCKING UP ON POTATOES!!!! YOU GUYS SHOULD TRY IT!!
Hi Cassie, i too suffered from the excess candida issue. I had some debilitating issues in addition to the “acne”. Keep up the good work w/your candida program. I know from experience how AMAZING the difference is but also how difficult & expensive it is to follow the food program. It is a total lifestyle change.
It turns out that if you suffer from the severe inflammatory breakouts known as cystic acne, most products you’ll find over the counter aren’t going help your skin — no matter what the label claims. That’s because the cysts form deep in your skin. “If you attempt to use a traditional spot-drying treatment, this won’t do anything other than dry out the surface of the skin, which is not where the infection is,” explains Renée Rouleau, a celebrity esthetician and founder of Renée Rouleau Skincare.
I would recommend checking out easyacneguide.com as its a great resource and has a really high quality guide for how to clear up acne. (It worked for me!) and it’s just a matter of figuring out what works more for you.
I am willing to try any natural remedy for my acne.can you guys help me which one is suit for me ? I am having an oily face and sensitive skin. I want to see again my baby face before. Hope it will works…
This fragrant essential oil has strong antibacterial properties that make it a powerful back acne treatment. Apply the oil to your skin with a cotton swab or loofah; it will penetrate clogged pores and dry up oily spots. Tea tree oil may be a good option if over-the-counter medications are too harsh for your skin. Here are more health and beauty uses for tea tree oil.
Great tips here. Aloe vera is another excellent solution. Not only does aloe vera benefit the body when taken internally it has positive benefits for the skin. This miracle plant may benefit common ailments like acne.
Diet: Some research shows that foods you eat could be linked to acne. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, there is some evidence that certain carbohydrates (e.g. white bread, potato chips) known to increase your blood sugar levels can also contribute to acne. For some, dairy products might also be a trigger. However, restricting foods has not been proven to be effective in actually treating acne.
I had really bad acne I tried everything possible. And Actutane became my best friend! Now I have nothing to keep me from doing to what I love doing. I’m not self concious anymore. Ask your Dermatologist!!!!
Warning: Sulfur smells like rotten eggs. But it is an effective ingredient at drying up pus-filled pimples and whiteheads (you’ve gotta take the good with the bad). It works by sucking up the oil. Sulfur is typically mixed with other active ingredients to get the most efficacy and fragrances to mask the strong scent. You can often find it in masks and spot treatments.
I’m so glad to view your post because it is important to recognize cystic acne as possibly a symptom. If you Google “problems the gut relative to acne” you can gather information about use of antibiotics causing imbalance in the intestine which is indicative of the acne. This problem for me has gone on for years and I began 2 tablespoons raw, organic apple cider vinegar and organic probiotic yogurt daily and use coconut oil to wash face along with vinegar as toner. The turmeric mixed with milk (to bleach discoloration of skin) I use as a mask and this calms down the sebaceous glands oil production. Turmeric and sugar and milk mixed to exfoliate. The coconut oil used with very hot water to massage face and drain pores and effective as antibacterial it rods those little white bumps as well as drain the cysts and prevent. Turmeric is antinflammatory as well as antibacterial. I am looking to buy vitamin c ester to make my own serum because this prevents acne, repairs skin and reverses wrinkles, and acts to prevent harmful rays causing damage. I want the synthetic ester. Stability and skin absorption is important as well as light exposure. I have been gathering info for almost one year and feel confident about the validity .. I just don’t have resources or time to articulate ; however, this should get anyone started with a final resolution hopeful. The gut problem should be explored due to cancer risks and for me two family members passed away from colon cancer and I tested positive for the gene and it strikes me hard to have left myself an invitation and so looking forward with optimism and very pretty skin.
Acne treatment that you apply to the skin: Most acne treatments are applied to the skin. Your dermatologist may call this topical treatment. There are many topical acne treatments. Some topicals help kill the bacteria. Others work on reducing the oil. The topical medicine may contain a retinoid, prescription-strength benzoyl peroxide, antibiotic, or even salicylic acid. Your dermatologist will determine what you need.
Water-based and alcohol-based formulations of benzoyl peroxide are available, and the most appropriate form depends on skin type. Alcohol-based preparations have a drying effect, making these more suitable for people with oily skin.
I also did research on Accutane. That stuff is so dangerous! It happens to be an extremely high does of Vitamin A… But since it has some major side affects (and I’m all about the natural stuff besides) I opted out. However I looked up good alternatives to Accutane and Cod Liver Oil came up again, and again. Turns out Cod Liver Oil has a whole lot of Vitamin A AND you can take as much of it as you want. Of course it doesn’t taste so good (I drink an orange flavored kind), but you can always take capsuls.
I started getting acne in 5th grade and I have tried everything and I am now going into 7th grade. I have tried……noxiema, neutregena, acne free. It cleared up and as I kept using it it came back. please help me find a cure!! i have it on my forehead, in between eyebrows, and around nose. Any observations would be greatly appreciated.
Rosacea is a skin disease that causes redness of the forehead, chin, and lower half of the nose. In addition to inflammation of the facial skin, symptoms include dilation of the blood vessels and pimples (acne rosacea) in the middle third of the face. Oral and topical antibiotics are treatments for rosacea. If left untreated, rhinophyma (a disfiguring nose condition) may result.

Removing the acid mantle from the skin can make it very vulnerable to bacteria… I believe getting the bacteria under control is the first step in treating acne. I am a tea tree oil lover for this, but it doesn’t suit everyone! Tamanu oil is also antimicrobial, which can be good for some people. Sometimes we need to alternate what we use. Sometimes, I see improvements with oil treatments, but then the skin seems to need a break from the oil treatments. I am still trying to figure it out!
Use a green tea serum, or simply add 2 tablespoons of loose green tea leaves to one cup of boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for 10 minutes and use as a daily wash. While you’re at it, drink one to two cups of green tea per day for the general anti-inflammatory benefits!
I have always heard that your eating habits affect your skin, but then again i have heard that it is a myth. Lately, I have been eating differently, more organic, more veggies and fruit, and less red meat, and fast and junk food. I have actually noticed my SEVERE acne getting alot clearer!!! I also have concluded that most “acne solutions” e.g: proactiv, skin id, etc. probably are less likely to work than something NATURAL!!! I have actually used skin id and i don’t seem to see any improvements after 7 weeks, but i am willing to keep trying it. This is my personal opinion, be optimistic!!!! Stress causes acne :-
