Hi, I had a really severe patch of acne on my cheek, very red, inflamed and really bumpy. I tried honey and cinnamon but it didnt really work until someone said to use Manuka Honey. This is now working. I put the honey straight on the affected area, its been a week now and the skin is less bumpy and less painful but still red and still there. After doing a little research, I learned that our skin is naturally acidic but, when we use harsh cleansers and soaps, that natural acidity is disrupted. This destroys the acid mantle of our skin, which is needed to protect our skin from germs, bacteria and pollution. Apple cider vinegar is so great for curing acne because it returns the acidity to our skin and restores that acid mantle. It also kills bacteria, removes excess dirt, oil and makeup and dissolves dead skin cells.

Tea tree (melaleuca alternifolia) is an herb used to treat skin problems and wounds. It has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory abilities that may reduce the number of acne lesions. In a 1990 study, a topical gel containing 5 percent tea tree oil was compared to a topical cream containing 5 percent benzoyl peroxide. Both preparations reduced the number of inflamed and noninflamed acne lesions. Though the tea tree oil took longer to work, it resulted in fewer side effects. These included dryness, itching, irritation, and redness.
While the root causes of zits are basically the same in both places, the skin on your face is very different from the skin on your back, which has its upsides and downsides. The skin on the face has more blood supply, Meinhardt says, which helps acne heal faster and reduces scarring. I also did research on Accutane. That stuff is so dangerous! It happens to be an extremely high does of Vitamin A… But since it has some major side affects (and I’m all about the natural stuff besides) I opted out. However I looked up good alternatives to Accutane and Cod Liver Oil came up again, and again. Turns out Cod Liver Oil has a whole lot of Vitamin A AND you can take as much of it as you want. Of course it doesn’t taste so good (I drink an orange flavored kind), but you can always take capsuls.
The smell of the ACV dissipates once it’s dried, if you have very sensitive skin you can use less ACV. I also moisturize with extra virgin organic coconut oil, use VERY VERY sparingly, focusing on your dry areas and under the eyes!! That’s my daily skin care and I finally don’t have to wear any of that foundation anymore without being embarassed of red patches and zit everywhere!
You may have to adjust the frequency of treatment depending on your skin’s sensitivity to vinegar and the soap. Also, turmeric will stain clothes and skin. Supposedly the turmeric stain can be removed from your face with a mild toner but I never leave it on long enough to find out, usually just the 15 minutes or so that I’m in the shower. I would suggest starting the honey and turmeric on a weekend so the stain goes away if it happens. Everyone’s skin will absorb the color at different speeds, so just be cautious at first.
