Hello everyone! I come from an Italian back ground and both my parents had considerably bad acne. I have a some what healthy diet (don’t forget I’m Italian!) and am some times stressed due to school or family issues. To the point, I have really bad acne scars that I’ve had now for about 6 months now, and its not getting better. I used proactiv for about 4 months now, and even before that clearisel for about 6 months, and I didn’t help. Even the stuff the doctor gave me. What is something that for absolutely sure works. And it has to be something around the house, we’re not very not very rich! Thanks
My First Appointment: “Claire, you’re lazy.” When Shamban sees my face, the doc is brutally honest. “You only use a cleanser? You’re being lazy with your skin.” OK. She didn’t say those words exactly, but that’s what she was intimating. I can feel my face turning red — which probably makes my acne look even worse. And I’m fighting back some tears. I feel like an ugly, hormonal teenager again. What’s wrong with me? Why am I still dealing with this problem? But she’s right. By only using cleanser, I have been lazy with my skin.
Acne can be a symptom of toxic overload in your system. Your skin eliminates toxins and acne is one way your body releases toxins. You can do things to help your body eliminate toxins in other ways, which will reduce the acne outbreaks.
Thank you so much Claire! I am 13 and in 7th grade. I have been struggling with acne since 4th grade. I always made fun of people for them until I got them myself. They are so embarrassing! When ever I’m done using a product and it didn’t work, I trow it away, and frown at the trashcan like a weirdo. I will try these and see if they work out for me. Thanks again!
While the battle rages on about the link between acne and diet, there have been multiple studies indicating a connection between dairy and acne inflammation. This association has been noted, but dairy is not widely considered to be a causation of acne.
i don’t usually have many pimples on my face, just black heads, but over the past week or so i have been getting so many. i try to pop them but they just seem like a red bump. I wash my face evry single day sometimes twices a day. i really hope that some of these will work! (:
In contrast, contraceptives that only contain progesterone can actually cause the development of pimples or worsen a pre-existing acne condition. Using particular birth control pills can also result in serious side effects and consequences, including a heightened risk of heart attack, stroke, and blood clotting. Other serious complications that may occur include high blood pressure, gallbladder disease, migraines, and mental health issues including depression so it’s important to talk to a doctor about any issues that arise after beginning a contraceptive medication.
1. You should only wash your face 2 times everyday-in the morning and right before you go to bed, the only exception to this is if your work out or play a sport then wash your face after that to get the sweat off
Apple cider vinegar contains astringent, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It also balances the pH levels of the skin. Malic acid present in ACV exfoliates the skin effectively.
Isotretinoin is a very effective treatment, but it has significant side effects and is dangerous to an unborn child. It is usually taken at a dosage of 1 milligram (mg) for every kilogram of body weight once daily for 16 to 20 weeks.
I have an acne starting from the age of 14, I was trying any kind over the counter acne solution but it didnt work. I also went to different dermatologist and still didnt disappear. Until now that I am 27, it’s still the same. But when I try the home remedy which are the lemon juice and the aloe vera (plant) guess what? it works. But I am suffering from the scar. What should I do? I think need a laser..please tree oil has been known to cause blistering rashes. You shouldn’t use it if you have sensitive skin or are allergic to plants from the myrtle family. This includes eucalyptus, allspice, and clove.
If you mix baking soda with water and stir it for about 5 mins it will make a sort of paste. Apply it to your face and leave for about 10-15 minutes and if you do this every night for a week you will see results. It worked for me 🙂

I’m 21, I’ve been battling with my acne since elementary school. I’ve tried everything — any chemical treatment or antibiotic you could think of and my acne has never budged. My skin is oily an hour after I wash it, its dry, its scarred, its red and irritated. I have everything under the sun wrong with my skin. I’ve been thinking about trying all natural products and this was very helpful.

Papaya is known to possess an enzyme named papain, which is helpful in treating minor wounds as well as conditions such as acne. In order to treat acne by using papaya, you can make a paste of the fruit and apply it to your skin. This will help in treating as well as preventing the recurrence of acne as it gets rid of the lipids from the skin, thereby preventing the clogging of the pores.
Chemical peels can be used to reduce the appearance of acne scars. Mild peels include those using glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, Jessner’s solution, or a lower concentrations (20%) of trichloroacetic acid. These peels only affect the epidermal layer of the skin and can be useful in the treatment of superficial acne scars as well as skin pigmentation changes from inflammatory acne. Higher concentrations of trichloroacetic acid (30–40%) are considered to be medium-strength peels and affect skin as deep as the papillary dermis. Formulations of trichloroacetic acid concentrated to 50% or more are considered to be deep chemical peels. Medium-strength and deep-strength chemical peels are more effective for deeper atrophic scars, but are more likely to cause side effects such as skin pigmentation changes, infection, and small white superficial cysts known as milia.
Low self-esteem: Many people who have acne say that their acne makes them feel bad about themselves. Because of their acne, they do not want to be with friends. They miss school and work. Grades can slide, and absenteeism can become a problem because of their acne.
In particularly troublesome cases of acne, a specialized drug known as accutane can be prescribed. This is an incredibly intense retinoid treatment that has shown to almost completely remove all acne in users. However, it has the most serious side-effects of any acne-fighting drug and should be used with extreme caution.
“Acne is caused, in part, by P. acnes bacteria that are with you your whole life — and we couldn’t create a vaccine for the bacteria because, in some ways, P. acnes are good for you,” said Dr. Eric Huang to Allure.
