Hi Aya, Wow, its so interesting that you said you experienced cystic acne when you began traveling because that was my experience too. I had to go over seas for my job in feb/mar of 09 and since then Ive battled cystic ance. Ive tried everything from all the stuff (antibiotics, duac, acanya, steroid injections, etc) a dermatologist prescribes and holistic methods as well. But I wonder if there’s more to this traveling commonality…. Did you travel overseas by chance?

I too struggled for many years with acne and it took me quite some time to feel comfortable looking at myself in the mirror for any extended amount of time. Totally agree with the self-love…especially since society always seems to be telling us to change or “improve” our bodies or appearances in ridiculous ways that just make people feel uncomfortable and insecure (nobody is going to have perfect skin, ever!) I am glad you found what worked for you 🙂
All those ideas are great! One thing to remember tho, the skin has 3 excretory organs, solids (poop), liquid (urine), and skin (eruptions/pimples) The first two have to be overloaded before it hits the skin…. Diet DOES count! Using the topical recipes above are great, but you have to cleanse the other two for long term results and change the diet to one that is not so poisonous and clogging! Does not have to be overnight change all, that would really be jolt to system that can’t handle waste already! Start adding more beneficial foods daily. I try for 5-9 veggies a day~somedays I only eat 3….but most days it will be 7-9 veggies. Keep a food diary. Adapt favorite foods, veggie omelet, veggie pizza etc. ALWAYS try to eat 1-3 cruciferous veggies daily! (Cancer prevention) and veggies that have antibacterial, anti fungal, anti parasite properties…. add and rotate more as you learn more! When I ate like this I felt great!!! Have gotten away from it and feel lousy! Starting to get back into it and am reminded everyday that I shouldn’t have gotten lazy about diet!! Dr. Oz has good 3 day cleanse if you have a Blendtec or Vitamix. Natalia Rose has a great ” Detox for Women” book out. First area to start on is digestive PBS did a special that explained to newbies the best but right now I can’t think of her name! Sorry.
So this is what I use now it may not work for everyone, but apply lemon juice on your face with a towel or cotton ball in the morning before you wash your face leave it on for 10-20 mins then wash your face. Then at night before you go to bed put toothpaste on your acne and in the morning wash it off and do the same thing everyday and everynight:-D lemon juice and toothpaste dries the acne and washing your face after hydrates it agian but in the good way! lolB-)
i’m 14 years old and has had acne since 6th grade mostly in the cheek and between my eyebrows, where everyone notices mostly. What i have found that works is first wash your hands with antibacterial soap before washing your face. Then use ACNEFREE purifying cleanser. Then go to any store such as publix or walmart and buy clean&clear spot treatment. It works wonnnnders!
I read the feedback on this site and agree with the person who said carrot juice worked for cystic acne. I have suffered from acne since my teens and have a 100% guarantee that works! I found a book called Best Face Forward at a thrift store and did some of the things suggested:
Strangely enough, I found out yogurt was effective on acne when me and my friend had a yogurt fight lol. We washed the yogurt off our faces and they had improved! A patch of pimples that I had for about a year and a half began to go away! 😀
Thank you for sharing such great tips! Ive experienced moderate acne breakouts since I was 11. Now in my late 20s I had tried everything from chemical to natural remedies, food diets, allergy elimination, you name it. By chance, due to a tummy bug, I discovered GRAPEFRUIT. After eating ORGANIC ruby red grapefruits (a whole one, no sugar, skins peeled) or natural grapefruit seed extract (12-14 drops in 8oz of water) once a day, everyday for 7 days or so, my skin stopped breaking out. Once every few months, one or two will pop up right before my period, but I hardly notice. That was a year ago. Now, I must admit that Ive missed a few days here and there and when I do my skin reacts and breaks out a bit again. i am a cosmetology student and have recently learned great home remedies. for a nice scrub use olive oil and sugar with just a bit of oats. for oily skin use tomato or lemon. to tighten skin use an egg beaten and let sit for 10 mins. honey really does work add to any mixture for skin softening benefits. avocado helps to calm skin.
I know they say natural is always the best way but not ALWAYS. I commented like a week ago here because i was really concerned about my acne and didn’t know what to to do anymore. Like i said i have tried several natural remedies and they did nothing to reduce my acne. As i was really worried looking trough the internet like crazy i found a lot of people talking about this website called acne.org and a regimen that really helped them.
