My breakouts weren’t just blackheads and whiteheads—they were deep, red nodules covering my face, concentrated especially around my cheeks and jawline. When faced with a face full of acne, I did what any normal teenager would do: I totally freaked out and applied layers and layers of makeup. I also started “treating” my skin with over-the-counter products like Neutrogena and Clean and Clear—but none worked. It was my biggest nightmare.
