Dear nikki, scars on the body parts can be due to unclean bed or bed spreads. Wash them once a week. Try this: put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in bathing water. You can also add a few drops of rose water. The result may be slow but will surely great.
The best way to fix them: This is where the classic zit treatments come into play. “Topical medications are the best way to treat a lesion like this,” says Jennifer Chwalek, M.D., a dermatologist at Union Square Laser Dermatology in NYC. “Benzoyl peroxide-, salicylic acid-, or sulfur-based products can help to dry it up.” She prefers salicylic acid over benzoyl peroxide for these, since the latter can cause irritation, dryness, and even post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (a.k.a. dark spots) in those with darker skin tones. Retinol works well for these, too.
Apply aloe vera gel. Daily apply aloe vera gel liberally over your skin. You can find it at most drug stores. Aloe vera is a succulent plant with antibacterial properties that are effective in treating acne and reducing inflammation. It prevents bacteria from infecting acne wounds and speeds up the healing process.
Isolaz is a treatment that uses a vacuum device to cleanse the pores by extracting excess oil. A broadband light is then used to destroy P. acnes bacteria on the skin and reduce the activity of the oil gland. The Isolaz is an FDA-approved laser that can remove the debris found deep in the pore, or bring it closer to the surface of the skin to enable safe extraction. This process is painless, but very costly, and it can take many sessions before results are visible.

Probiotic-Rich Foods: One of the best ways to fight cystic acne is to use probiotics to address the issues between gut and skin connection. Probiotic foods like kefir, cultured vegetables or yogurt line up your gut with healthy, sealed barrier which prevent the inflammation that can trigger the acne. As per a Korean study conducted on 56 acne patients, drinking lactobacillus-fermented dairy drink can reduces lesion count and sebum production in 12 weeks.
Ladies.. or guys who use makeup… Clean your makeup brushes!!! I used to get acne on my chin/cheeks and had suggested by my derm to make sure I clean brushes once a week. I take all my brushes and wash them with a basic soap or cleaner. It is amazing all the dirt, oil and makeup that washes right away in the sink. To think I was putting that back in my skin everyday. I also after cleaning, lightly brush the top of the brushes over rubbing alchohol. This makes sure any bacteria, or germs in there gets killed if the wash didn’t get them. After the first week of doing this, I had improvment right away. Def suggest to all those who use blush and concealer brushes!
Diet. Studies indicate that certain dietary factors, including skim milk and carbohydrate-rich foods — such as bread, bagels and chips — may worsen acne. Chocolate has long been suspected of making acne worse. A small study of 14 men with acne showed that eating chocolate was related to a worsening of symptoms. Further study is needed to examine why this happens and whether people with acne would benefit from following specific dietary restrictions.
Flaxseed is known to possess a high amount of omega 3 fatty acids as well as fibre. The presence of omega 3 fats in flaxseed is helpful in reducing the inflammation that is associated with the development of acne. Flaxseeds must be consumed on a regular basis by those who tend to develop acne on their skin.

Lori! Your tips have helped me improve my skin sooo much! I first found your website in may of this year, when I was suffering with 6 months of chronic insomnia before my wedding (still don’t know what caused it…stress, work, moving and traveling a ton?) but your tips about magnesium and body brushing helped a lot! I don’t have insomnia anymore. I had terrible skin as a teenager (after reading your blog, I now know so many things that could have triggered it! At the time I was baffled, because I thought I ate healthy, played tennis and ran every day, and was thin…but I was wrong! I definitely did not get enough of the right nutrients. My acne has been better as an adult, I’m now 25, but still not great. HOWEVER 2 weeks after following your tips, especially the cod liver oil, probiotics, and balancing the PH of my face, along with natural makeup, my skin has NEVER looked better!!! THANK YOU!! Even the couple of acne scars I was left with are fading! Coconut oil makes the skin on my face break out, so I use grape seed oil. My favorite mask is cinnamon and grape seed oil, I gently rub that over my face for a few minutes, and it gets rid of my blackheads and increases my face circulation. I follow it with witch hazel, though I want to try ACV now! Once again, thank you soooooooooo much! I also use baking soda and castile soap for pretty much everything in the house! My husband thinks I’m crazy, haha, but I got his mom hooked on your blog too. I have a long way to go, but you’re an amazing inspiration!
Just as ice controls swelling on a sprained ankle, it can reduce inflammation in a pimple, says Dr. Jaliman. “Wrap an ice cube in a wash cloth and hold it on the pimple for a minute,” she says. “It will vasoconstrict the blood vessels and take down the redness and swelling.”
step#4. befour going to bed try using toothpaste as a final touch derectly on the ance (pimples) i usualy let it stay overnight untill the next morning then rinse but if you dont like sleeping with the toothpaste on your face then just apply it to your acne then let it sit for about 2-5 minutes and then rinse with warm water. it may burn a little bit but this works special for zits and those big juicy pimples that tend to stand out the most>-( ..if it the pimple pops and the puff comes out dont panic:-o .. just clean it with alcohal or simply just water:-)
There’s evidence that eating a low glycemic diet, meaning one that doesn’t include lots of processed grains/flour products and added sugar, can help prevent acne. Glycemic index measures how quickly foods raise blood sugar. Processed and refined foods, like those common in the Western diet, are high-glycemic, while meats and whole plant foods are low on the glycemic scale. Glycemic load is a measure of glycemic index times carbohydrates minus fiber. Most of the time, refined and processed food will have a high glycemic index AND high glycemic load, while certain vegetables will have a higher glycemic index, but very low glycemic load on the body.
So what can be done if you’re experiencing cystic breakouts? Make an appointment with a dermatologist ASAP. “Most of the frustration with cystic acne stems from the trial-and-error experience of purchasing and using skin care products that prove not to work well. Save your time and money and see a dermatologist to help you get on track,” Willams recommends.

I took Braggs Organic Unfiltered With the Mother Apple Cider Vinegar daily for one month and it stopped my acne tremendously. I am not one of those that had one or two zits and considered that acne. I have had noticeable acne. I took a shot in the morning straight (sometimes followed by a glass of water). Then I’d take another shot of the apple cider vinegar in the afternoon. Not only did it clear my face with in a month, it also gave me a pick me up during the day when I felt tired.
*Hope these helped. They are natural and not chemical remedies ( which tend to cause depression ) so they are healthier and more efficent to human’s delicate and special skin. Just remember, your acne doesn’t define who you are, and it doesnt rule you. Just take care of yourself and try not to stress. Jesus loves you 🙂
Oh, hello old friend. Salicylic acid is the go-to fix for pimply preteens. And cruising through the aisles at the drugstore, you’ll find it as the active ingredient on the majority of products labeled “acne wash” or “spot treatment.” Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid that works by dissolving excess oil and gently exfoliating away dead skin cells. Salicylic also has anti-inflammatory properties to help with inflamed cystic breakouts that can occur when blockages deep in the hair follicles rupture beneath the skin. It’s best to apply this ingredient as a toner, moisturizer, or leave-on spot treatment instead of a face wash to give it time to do its work. And keep in mind, salicylic acid can dry out the skin if over-applied, so maybe choose only one product with the ingredient to use every day.
If your parent had acne as a teen, it’s likely that you will, too. Stress may make acne worse, because when you’re stressed, your pores may make more sebum. Luckily, for most people acne gets better by the time they’re in their twenties.
First, let’s talk about what causes acne. Pimples form when the oil and dead skin cells on your skin combine to form a plug that blocks the pores. “As the P. acnes bacteria that naturally live on skin overgrow within this plugged follicle, the area becomes inflamed and this is when you start to see papules, pustules, and cystic lesions,” RealSelf dermatologist Sejal Shah, M.D., tells SELF. The treatments ahead work to exfoliate away dead skin cells, suck up excess oil, stop inflammation, and kill the P. acnes bacteria. There are even a few treatments that target hormonal acne specifically.

I highly recommend using Cetaphil for a cleanser in the morning and evening. I have been using it for 20 years and love it! I graduated from the Aveda Institute of Beauty & Wellness where I specialized in skin, waxing, and make-up etc…, but I still continue to use my Cetaphil cleansing bar and Cetaphil Moisturizing cream. You can purchase it at almost any store. Cetaphil is non-comedegenic, fragrance free, mild, non-abrasive, harmless to the skin, and inexpensive. If i ever get a pimple it is usually gone the next day or shortly after I cleanse with Cetaphil. The moisturizing cream I use is the thick emollient in a tub, mainly for the winter and it works awesome after cleansing. I also tested the moisturizer and it is 100% PH balanced meaning its completely balanced and not acidic nor alkaline. If you have oily skin always use a foamy wash or a cleanser for sensitive skin with acne, such as cetaphil. If your skin is on the dry side use a cream cleanser. Always make sure its fragrance free too. Ladies, wash your make-up brushes at least once a week to prevent acne. If you see a film that creates little lines expecially on forehead, then you should start drinking a lot of water and wear a hydrating mask a couple times a week. Wash your pillow cases and wipe your cell phones! Never scrub your face or you will start to break down the barriers of your skin. That’s all for now. 🙂 hope this helps

Tea tree oil has been known to cause blistering rashes. You shouldn’t use it if you have sensitive skin or are allergic to plants from the myrtle family. This includes eucalyptus, allspice, and clove.

*If you can get away with washing your face less than 2x a day- that is ideal! The natural oils produced from your skin can be very beneficial in preventing wrinkles, so you don’t want to wipe them off! Unfortunately for me, washing less than 2x a day causes me to start breaking out again.
Hey, I’m 16. And well, like most adolescence, I have acnes… not just on my face but also on my back. [@] right? Anyway.. now I only have acne scars n they’re almost gone… The secret? – I apply honey with herbs (it smells bad, though) on my face and before going to bed and leave it overnight. I didn’t do it on my back though. I only got it during summer. And anyway.. how can I sleep with both my face AND back have honey paste on it. So anyway, it really works on me. A doctor said to me you can also use honey with cinnamon and another said drink yogurt with honey and onion in it. It helps to detoxify your body. Drink for a month and it may help.
Widely known as a sunburn remedy, aloe vera can also fight the inflammation that turns small marks into hulking, mountainous zits, says Polisky. The goo contains aloin and aloesin, two anti-inflammatory compounds experts suspect are responsible for its soothing effects, says Wu. Since there have been no studies determining whether aloe in creams and lotions is still active, Polisky recommends sticking to aloe straight from the plant, which you can find at your local health food or drugstore. Or look for a gel without a laundry list of preservatives, and dot onto your spots or smooth over your entire face after cleansing and before you put on lotion.
Potato chips (made with white potatoes) are one of the most popular junk foods in the United States (9). However, not only are chips fried in nasty oils and lacking in almost all vitamins and minerals, they’re also one of the major acne-causing foods that ruin our skin. The reasoning here is largely the same as our first two points: chips contain far too many carbs, produce a quick insulin spike, and lead to systemic inflammation. On top of that, the industrial seed oils used in making potato chips are very high in omega-6 fats, which is very bad news for your body (10). Try eating some wild-caught fish (which is high in beneficial omega-3s) instead. This pan-seared tuna steak is delicious, loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, and is just one example of the many better dietary choices out there.
