I hope this helps somebody. I had tried Retin A and tetracycline, but decided to go with the suggestions in that book. Tetracycline can be hard on the stomach and Retin A smells bad and you need to limit your sun exposure.

It’s interesting discover that the Canadian Eskimos never suffer from acne. Only when they migrate to countries like America and adopt the standard “westernized” diet do they get acne. This tells us two things. Number one… the standard westernized diet is bad for you (what a revelation!), and two, Eskimos eat plenty of oily cold water fish.

Vitamin A derivatives (such as retinol) dry sebum and remove the upper layers of skin. They commonly cause skin side effects such as stinging, burning, redness or peeling. Rhassoul clay is a wonderful alternative. It reduces oil production without drying the skin out, leaving the skin soft and smooth. I prescribe many of my patients a mask made with rhassoul clay and a blend of Chinese herbs.
Hormones: Hormonal changes in the teenage years are often the cause of acne. But for women past puberty, pimple outbreaks can be linked to hormonal changes that happen during menstruation and pregnancy.
Yogurt and Honey Mask: Mix one tablespoon of raw honey with one tablespoon of yogurt. Apply to face, paying particular attention to hairline, jawline and other acne prone areas. Relax for 10 minutes and gently wipe off with a damp cloth.
But the cure is not only designed for teenagers. According to The Telegraph, cases of adult acne, particularly in female patients, are becoming more and more prominent. Some doctors are even calling the rise of adult acne an “epidemic”. Woah.
Boil a pot of water, pour into a large bowl, and let it cool for a few minutes. After its temperature has lowered slightly, place your face above the bowl, and drape the towel over your head to trap the steam. After 10-15 minutes, remove the towel and pat your face dry. Do this once a day or as needed.
Cystic acne is an inflammatory type of acne. Inflammatory acne results from the rupturing of the skin cell wall. When the wall surrounding a pore ruptures, bacteria and sebum can funnel into the surrounding skin cells, causing infection that results in inflammation. There are four main types of inflammatory acne, and all four may be present on the skin in cases of cystic acne.

Taking a shower in the morning and finding out that you have an agonizing spot on your back. When you touch it again at the end of the day, it has now swollen! These spots can give you a feeling of discomfort throughout the day. These are most commonly known as “Bacne (Back Acne)”. Bacne is a mix of acne and back. It is very common in mostly teenagers who have reached puberty till the age 30. It can occur in ages above 30 as well. The most favorite prey for it are the ages mentioned above. People living in humid and hot weathers usually tend to have more back acne. According to “The Times of India”, Dr. Trasi says that acne is hormonal; ordinarily women tend to have acne on face. Men tend to fall its victim by having acne on the back. Your oil glands are located on your face, back, your shoulders and buttocks. These glands secrete oil and sweat. You may not be able to wash your body right away after sweating a lot. This can bring out acne.
Various acne remedies at home can be used quite easily, and the results seen are often positive, with minimal side-effects. However, it is always best to consult a dietician or dermatologist before opting for any home treatment, as overuse or contraindications with other medications and treatments are possible. It is also best if you consult a physician if the redness and pain associated with acne takes a turn for the worse and does not subside.
Hi! I tried doing a routine of oil cleansing, honey cleansing, and apple cider vinegar toner and my skin started breaking out much worse than before, I waited a bit to see if this reaction would go away but eventually resorted to going to a dermatologist and getting prescribed medication. My acne is much better now but I don’t want to take medication anymore. Do you think maybe I just needed to give my routine a longer chance to work (maybe I was detoxing?)? Or maybe these natural remedies just don’t work for me? (I hope that’s not the case!)

Dear nikki, scars on the body parts can be due to unclean bed or bed spreads. Wash them once a week. Try this: put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in bathing water. You can also add a few drops of rose water. The result may be slow but will surely great.
