I do agree about the alkalizing. Whenever I am more consistent drinking my sea salt, baking soda, and lemon juice drinks I can tell my face is clearer. One other thing that has helped me is making sure I take a couple tabespoons of granulated lecithin each day to help flush out those rancid oils in my body. I also use ACV on my face with a cotton swab and I do not dilute it. I’ve struggled with adult acne for years and have tried many things but what I’ve mentioned above seems to have helped me more than anything else.
My dermatologist suggested St Ives ” oil free ” products. I must admit, that whenever I start or begin a product that will help me, I usually do not continue to use it. I suppose that is why, for me, the acne have not disappeared.

PM: (Right before showering) Wash face with hot water and an organic oatmeal based facial soap, I use Grandma’s Acne Bar. Mix equal parts honey and turmeric, I use a table spoon of each. Apply to face. Then I jump in the shower and let the steam do it’s thing while I wash, washing my face last with hot water and a wash cloth. Pat face dry, rinse again with vinegar/water. Liberally apply aloe.

I am 15 years old and I have a 24 year old sister and we both have acne. My acne used to be only on my forehead but now its also on my cheek and chin. My sister still has bad acne on her cheeks. Recently someone has told me to if u take a small bowl and put some milk and add 5 drops of lemon to the milk, mix it up a little it might form some clumps but its ok and with a cotton ball apply it to the spots with acne. You could also do it without putting the drops of lemon its just not as effective. Leave it on your face over night, it will dry your face up a little put no worries in the morning wash your face with an oil free cleanser and your face will show some improvement. I’ve had bad acne since elementry school and nothing ever worked. I’m 17 and last year i went on accutane which cleared up EVERYTHING-scars and all. the only downside was the side effects-i only got dry lips and my eye sight got a little worse but it is risky. after a year or so the acne started coming back-def. a lot better than it was before accutane but it still bugs me that i have acne again. i’m going to get glycolic acid peels for scars and then see what happens. if nothing works i’ll probably go on accutane again-to me its worth it.

Acne is caused by clogged pores and bacteria, and it’s often challenging to manage. Over-the-counter and prescription treatments may help, though some can cause serious side effects. If traditional treatments are unsuccessful, or if you prefer to try something more natural, you may decide to turn to herbal remedies.
No one knows exactly what causes acne. Hormone changes, such as those during the teenage years and pregnancy, probably play a role. There are many myths about what causes acne. Chocolate and greasy foods are often blamed, but there is little evidence that foods have much effect on acne in most people. Another common myth is that dirty skin causes acne; however, blackheads and pimples are not caused by dirt. Stress doesn’t cause acne, but stress can make it worse.
The earliest pathologic change is the formation of a plug (a microcomedone), which is driven primarily by excessive growth, reproduction, and accumulation of skin cells in the hair follicle. In normal skin, the skin cells that have died come up to the surface and exit the pore of the hair follicle. However, increased production of oily sebum in those with acne causes the dead skin cells to stick together. The accumulation of dead skin cell debris and oily sebum blocks the pore of the hair follicle, thus forming the microcomedone. This is further exacerbated by the biofilm created by P. acnes within the hair follicle. If the microcomedone is superficial within the hair follicle, the skin pigment melanin is exposed to air, resulting in its oxidation and dark appearance (known as a blackhead or open comedo). In contrast, if the microcomedone occurs deep within the hair follicle, this causes the formation of a whitehead (known as a closed comedo).

hey im 14 years old and i have had acne since i was 10 years old. Ive tried so many thing such as proactiv,every face wash, spot treatments, and more. I finally tried clinique liquid facial soap and clarifying lotion. Its made for combination oily/acne skin. Ive been using it for about a year and it really does work. I only use it at night and in the morning i use st.ives apricot scrub its really good and it makes your skin feel so soft. Sometimes if my acne is getting really bad when im stressed i use a home remedy which is sugar and lemon juice its really good and really simple! I still do have some acne but ive been drinking a lot more water and its really good for your skin same with salt water i just run my sink water and put salt water in and apply it to my face. i hope i helped 🙂
