Hi all, my name is Emma and I would also like to contribute. A couple of months back I was on the internet searching for some home remedies to Acne. I came across quite a lot of suggestions which I tried but I personally don’t have the patience for acne so I was back on the internet again looking for the fastest way to treat my acnes until I saw someone’s suggestion of washing the face with warm water and salt. The hoter the water the better. Within 2 days my face was as smooth as a baby’s bump bump and has been ever since. I have not stopped washing my face with hotwater and lots of salt. Acne is caused by bacterial and the salt is killing them on my face. Please try it and come back here and tell the story. I went further and cleared the scars on my face with Amos white which was recommended by my sister. My face’s so cool now and am loving it!
When it comes to acne, the debate in the scientific community revolves around whether diet plays a causative role (1). What I can tell you from personal experience is that diet plays a definite role in making skin better or worse — at least for the large majority of us. So today I will be highlighting 8 foods that you may want to pull out of your diet if you struggle with acne. But before we go there, let’s get a brief overview of what acne actually is, and how it forms.
Witch hazel contains astringent tannins, which may treat acne by removing excess skin oil. It also has anti-inflammatory effects and can reduce redness and bruising. Witch hazel is often used alone or as a base for homemade acne remedies.
Vitamin C helps the body to fight infection. Acne cysts have an infectious component, so vitamin C is good solution for this problem for many who suffer with it. 1000 mg of vitamin C can be taken 3 times a day. If this dose should cause loose stools, cut back on the amount you take.

Cystic acne is the most serious type of acne. It develops when cysts form deep underneath your skin. This can result from a combination of bacteria, oil, and dry skin cells that get trapped in your pores.
Blackheads (open comedones): occur when pores open up, causing the dirt and sebum to rise to the surface of the skin. The blackish color comes from oxidization when the air reacts with melanin, a pigment in sebum.
You have to use it for a good while, like do it everyday for about 2-3 weeks, you will notice a difference. Everyones skin is different though, but ive been using the honey and cinnamon for about a week and it seems to be working. And i have really bad acne. Make sure youre using raw organic honey and good cinnamon, and be consistant with it. Dont skip a day and make sure you keep your face clean throughout the day, like dont touch it. I have deep acne and its getting better with this, but then again everyones skin is different so maybe if it doesnt work in a month or two, try a different method and do the same as this one.
I have a really bad acne problem at the moment (well I have since I was about 14 and I’m now 19), and it seems like I can’t get anything to work. I’ve tried numerous face washes, which all worked for about the first week of using them (mind you I was still a little bit bumpy on my forehead) but then I began to break out with more pimples.
Create a blend of cucumbers and oatmeal. The cucumbers help to reduce redness and fight off dark spots while the oatmeal soften and soothes irritated skin. Blend the two together in a food processor until it forms a paste, and then apply it to your skin for 15-20 minutes before washing off with warm water.

Typical features of acne include increased secretion of oily sebum by the skin, microcomedones, comedones, papules, nodules (large papules), pustules, and often results in scarring. The appearance of acne varies with skin color. It may result in psychological and social problems.
Pimples, zits, spots, et cetera, are caused by multiple reasons. A main reason is due to a clog or blockage in the follicles. This can lead to bacteria growth which causes infection. Infection then creates pus, thus resulting in a pimple. I have had acne for quite some time now and I can say that popping these little annoyances can result in some very obvious scars.
Among the most widely successful strategies they employ is prescribing different topical medications – which are frequently “coupled” in a single lotion, gel or other delivery substance – in combination with oral antibiotics to address multiple causes and effects of acne.
Perhaps surprisingly, the way you wash your hair can have an impact on bacne. While the oils in hair treatments might be good for nourishing your strands, they can be bad news for the skin on your back. That’s why Palmer says that you should rinse conditioner off to the side instead of letting it run down your back. Also, try waiting until you’ve completed all of your hair treatments before washing your body. That way you can wash off any oily residue, clearing the way for your acne treatments to do their thing.
Like most cases of acne, severe cystic acne causes are triggered by hormonal changes and often develops during the onset of puberty. Sebum is an oily substance pushed through the pores to help protect and lubricate the skin, keeping it soft. During puberty, the level of androgen hormones produced increases significantly. When a higher amount of androgens are produced, the skin’s oil glands react by producing an excess of sebum. This leads to an excess of sebum and an increase of skin cell proliferation. With more sebum and skin cells sloughing off the surface of the skin, pores can become clogged.
I’m 38 and still get pimples. Never had it much as a teenager but once I hit 32 seems I get the occasional really bad pimple that sticks around FOREVER. I use to sell proactiv, so I bought it, the only thing out of the whole system that works is refining mask, u can buy it pretty cheap on ebay, so don’t bothering buying it thru the tv ads. Also, the toothpaste “mask” on a pimple will work, it’s a cheap way to help a zit. toothpaste also works on bug bites like chigers or mosquito bits. I’ve tried many OTC stuff not many work, gonna try a few on here, I’ll let ya all know how they work.
Environ is a great skin care option. can be a little expensive. Its a south african brand. But think curing acne is from the inside out anyway. So good basics like neutrogena should work for cleansing and moisturising, while you focus on fixing from the inside.
Turmeric has been used since ancient times to treat various skin disorders including acne. Turmeric is known for its medicinal properties that help fight infection causing bacteria. When used in combination with lemon juice, turmeric is an excellent antidote for cystic acne. The healing properties of turmeric effectively bring down the inflammation as well as reduce the pain associated with nodular acne.
I have been taking turmeric and dandelion root internally and think they are helping. For me though I have to stay away from using proactive I have such sensitive skin and it leans more towards being dry.
If you’re dealing with mild acne and your skin exhibits only occasional breakouts, you may be able to accurately self-diagnose and treat your skin with the right products and routine. However, if any of the following warning signs are present, it’s essential to make an appointment with a skin care professional or physician as soon as possible:
As this is not a simple infection, treatment duration is on the order of months rather than weeks, and the antibiotics such as those in the tetracycline family that have anti-inflammatory properties beyond their antibacterial properties are the usual first choice. A variety of antibiotics have proven useful in cystic acne. All members of the tetracycline family (tetracycline [Diabecline], doxycycline, minocycline [Minocin], demeclocycline) may work and are usually the first medications prescribed. The sustained-released formulations of these medications (Solodyn, Oracea) may be helpful but usually more for maintenance than acute flares. Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim, Septra) is often the next class of medication tried. Clindamycin (Cleocin) may be used on its own or combined with rifampin (Rifampicin). Erythromycin (Ery-tab) has a long history of use in acne, but gastrointestinal upset may limit its use. Azithromycin (Zithromax) may be used, but after an initial loading period, it is best used every other day because of the long half-life.
Oral contraceptives are a viable option for cystic acne in some women. This method is especially effective if you tend to develop acne cysts during hormone fluctuations related to your menstrual cycle.
Also.. ice, ice, ice, ice. I always rub ice on my face before washing my face (both morning and night). It feels great and is a wonder for redness as well. It’s important to get a lot of Vitamin C intake in your diet as well because what you put inside your body greatly affects your skin. Drink a lot of water too.

Fght your cravings and the temptations of family, friends and commercil suppliers…your skin will quickly geel the difference. I fasted for 7 days, drinking only water, then was vegan afterward fr 2 weeks solid. White willow bark has salicin, which is similar to the salicylic acid found in many commercial acne products. It has anti-microbial, anti-fungal and an anti-inflammatory property which dries out blemishes, fights fungus and bacteria, and reduces inflammation and redness.
Hi, I’m 16 and i have been trying to eat healthily and i have been taking care of my facial hygiene for a few months now and i definitely see results. I have been on a no sugar diet, completely avoided all oily foods, cut out most dairy, all white flour, and all processed foods. I wash my face twice a day (with all natural facial cleanser) and apply cleansing face packs every night (usually turmeric based). But I still get that one annoyingly large pimple once in a while. They take a long time to go away, is there anything else i can do to prevent this cystic acne. Also among the list above which work the best, i don’t have especially sensitive skin.
Protect your skin from the sun. For some people, the sun worsens acne. And some acne medications make you more susceptible to the sun’s rays. Check with your doctor to see if your medication is one of these. If it is, stay out of the sun as much as possible. Regularly use a nonoily (noncomedogenic) moisturizer that includes a sunscreen.
Baking soda can be used effectively in order to treat acne. In order to use baking soda to treat acne, you must mix a heaped tablespoon of baking soda with a sufficient amount of water so as to form a thick paste. Following that, apply it to your skin and leave it there till it begins to harden. Wash it off after that and repeat it several times a week, for best results.
